15	Grassland	An ecosystem consisting only of grasses and forbs. Grasslands develop on neutral to alkaline soils. They need long dry periods to develop so there are no grasslands on Tamborine Mountain.			View
14	Heathland	Develops on acid, sandy or light friable soils and consists of many characteristic species e.g. Banksias, Casuarinas, Teatrees and Legumes. Depends on a fire frequency of 5 to 8 years.			View

12	Open Forest	A forest with cover from 30% to 70% and trees to 10m height most of which are eucalypts and relatives. Dependant on moderate fires once a decade or so.			View
17	Private Garden	Any area which is human controlled. It is likely to contain both native and exotic species but these have been planted and are maintained with extra water, fertilisers, etc. and competition is modified.			View
10	Rainforest	A tall, layered forest with more than 70% overhead cover. There is a big diversity of species. Vines and epiphytes are often common. Fire destroys rainforest but it is usually too damp to burn.			View
11	Tall Open Forest	A tall forest with usually only 3 layers and 70% cover. The dominant tree species are eucalypts and relatives but there is usually an understorey of rain forest species. Rejuvenated by occasional fierce fires.			View
13	Woodland	Trees to 10m height but scattered with less than 30% overhead cover and therefore there is a dense ground storey of either shrubs or grasses depending on fire frequency.			View
